The Horse Committe would like to invite Fannin County residents to participate in selecting recipients of the Golden Spur Award this next year.

Read the following criteria and be on the lookout for 4-H and FFA members that meet some of the requirements for this award.  Please submit the name and the reason(s) you think he/she would qualify to your FFA teacher or 4-H leader.  Ask them to submit the information to us via email or phone.  Check the "Contact the Committee Members" page for contact information.



Golden Spur Award

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GOLDEN SPUR AWARD

The Golden Spur Award is based on accomplishments throughout the year of an outstanding senior and Junior 4-H or FFA member. The guidelines are as follows:

1. Is a member of a county or club horse project
2. Shows a willingness to volunteer his/her help in setting up or tearing down at events.
3. Helps fellow members
4. Works at events
5. Participates in fund raising activities
6. Participates in events
7. Conducts his/herself in a safe, pleasant and helpful manner befitting an equine enthusiast
8. Helps plan equine events
9. Exhibits good sportsmanship
10. Is a team player
11. Shows leadership qualities
12. Shows a sincere desire to learn and improve his/herself and others

Sportsmanship Award

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

The Sportsmanship Award is for an outstanding Senior and Junior 4-H or FFA member that best fulfulls the following guidelines at the Fannin county Horse Show:

1. Is a good sport
2. Congratulates winners; shakes hands
3. Helps show committee in a pleasant and willing
4. Is on time for classes
5. Knows and follows all show rules
6. Thanks judge; shakes hands
7. Good Sportsman should display no behavior such as unnecessary roughness towards horse, arguing (or complaining) with show's officals, judges or fellow exhibitors, etc.
8. Is helpful to all exhibitors
9. Always competes fairly
